Cyndi Chen is an advocate for the Asian and Pacific Islander Iowans. Volunteering is her great joy in life.  Her personal motto is, "Live one day at a time and make it a masterpiece.”  She has lived a varied and unique life, moving between many different employment and volunteer opportunities.  Some of her past job titles and roles include: data analyst, database and finance manager, and professor of mathematics, statistics, and Chinese language.  Chen has also worked in many volunteer organizations, attempting to help those less fortunate.  She has worked with orphans, low-income students, and refugees in Thailand and Cambodia.  Throughout her career Chen has received many awards and honors but no award can equal the satisfaction she receives when helping someone in need.
